This story begins here in 2018 when I finally found a place I had been looking for a long time.
Forgotten paradise.
I found this house in 2017 siting at work browsing through million website. I did not expect it was still on sale as the advertisement itself was 5 years old.
Yes, it is still on sale.
With frail hope I gave it a shot and dialed the number. "Still on sale" - the voice on the other side of the phone. I could not believe it thinking why such house remained unnoticed ?
Now I understood.
No road access, no water inside, wilderness, peaceful sound of the nature and the last man.
These days people are barely challenging the life. It is easier to jump into a car than walk for 20 min. I have no neighbors apart from an old local mountain shepherd. His name is Yousain and he is a Muslim (Bulgarian Pomac). He tells me the stories about the past years of this used to vibrant village. Yousain takes his sheep every day to the fields. Sitting on the grass and looking somewhere far he recalls in memory the old good times of the village filled with life.
Now he is the last one living here. His wife died couple of years back and his sons live in near by in the other village.
First look.
I knew I found a place I've been always looking for. No one has lived here for last 25 years. There will be a lots of work but I'm optimistic.
There is an electricity in the house and little fountain 20m away. I will be fine then.
It won't be easy but this is the price of the freedom.
