New year and new friend

I came back to the village around March that year but just for a while to leave couple of things and test my old fashion jeep Lada Niva that I bought. I really needed one for this place, at least I could reach my house through the fields instead of carrying things on my back from the nearest black road.

Then I came again in June if I remember it right, this time with my new "friend". Apart from a car I needed some company so I found this little, cute, "one blue eye", abandoned puppy and I decided to adopt him. Once he grows I will have a prefect guard - you really need one in this area because of bears. There are not too many of them but you never know. My place does not have any fences etc. I'm a bit far from civilization so it is a perfect place for predators and If you there you just simply enter a kind of "chain

Shower and toilet

Apparently this house had neither toilet nor shower and as long as it is not a problem to go into the bush or forest you need to clean your body...somehow, especial after long working day when you are all sweaty.

I saw this video on YouTube where a guy builds this easy and cheap, kind of shelter so I decided to build one for my needs.

Yes, I know, it is not an ecological way since I used a wrapping foil for it however I really did not have a time to build an "Eco" one this time. I did not have too much time anyway so I had to come with some quick solution. The construction itself has been done from hazel branches which are easy to bend and they are basically everywhere in my area.

At the end I finished the floor with flat stones that you can find near by then I built a compost toilet and got a 10liters camping shower bag. It was all I needed.

The whole building process can be seen on my YouTube channel.

Later on in the summer time I had family visit so my father put new electricity cables, mounted new contacts etc. stuff and me with my son started cleaning up and renovating first bedroom. We managed to fix the walls. We painted them first but then decided to apply a wall paper. Why so ? The walls were very curvy and I found this cheap, very good, vinyl, a royal one on the sale for around 2 Euro and I really liked them.

I also managed to "improve" the roof. It was not that bad but there were still some leaking after the winter so I brought new tiles and replace an old ones. The other thing I had to fix was a place in front of the house. It was getting very muddy all the time so I though I can build some kind of porch where I can have a dinning table and possibly some barbecue as until now we were cooking on some improvised clay stove and eating at an old table outside.

It was not really comfortable especial in rainy days...but I will tell you more about my porch project next time...
