Rubbish, rubbish everywhere

Updated: Mar 14, 2022

So it was a first day of the real work and I really did not know where to start. I came to the house with couple of friends. We met one local man and help him to collect dried straw for his animals then he took us for a little tour trough the forest and one local peak "com".

My friends had to come back and I got to work.

There were items everywhere, tons of rubbish...just simply mess but I had to mange to get it done somehow alone. I have started with rooms and then began sorting all items that were left behind those who lived here before. I have found many interesting tools inside I would say unique antiques in between tons of garbage. It took me a couple of hours to clean and sort it out...If I remember good I packed 48 bags - each 120 liters of ...... yeah

Black ceiling and leaking roof.

General condition of the house was not too bad, yet no one really looked after it for last 25 years. There were some leaks in the roof and rotten floorboards. I managed to correct the roof, at least for sometime, and replace the wood on the floor so I'm sure I wont fall accidentally to the barn underneath.

The ceiling on the back of the "living room" was strangely black, I could not really understand what was cause of it. The ceiling in these house are done from wood, plastered with mix of straw, clay and finished with lime putty. Lime is mold resistant so it could not be this what I thought but I decided to take it down anyway....

However I should have removed only the plaster's layer (clay, straw and this lime) covered with this black stuff but leave the wood. I would not know it at that time. I was just a beginner based on the thousand hours of research and in fact it was my first this kind of project. It was not a big mistake but I will come back to this topic in one of my further post.

More stories soon...
